Ask who performs each scope, which receiver accepts the material under what specification, how weights and rejected loads are handled, and exactly which records you will receive.
Short answer: evaluate a wind blade recycling contractor on the clarity of its scope, the receiver it will use and that receiver's written acceptance, how it measures and reconciles weight, what happens to rejected loads, which records it will deliver, and how changes are priced. Marketing claims are not evidence; ask for documents.
Questions about scope
- Which parts of the work do you perform with your own people and equipment?
- Which parts do you subcontract or coordinate, and with whom?
- What is explicitly excluded (lowering, crane work, site restoration, permits)?
- Who is responsible for loading?
Questions about the receiver
- Which facility will receive the material?
- Can you provide its written acceptance specification for this inventory?
- What is its process, and what happens to the outputs?
- What is its capacity during our schedule window?
- What is the backup if it cannot accept material?
Questions about specification
- What piece size will you cut to, and why?
- How will root sections and metal be handled?
- How will you confirm pieces meet specification before loading?
Questions about weight
- Where will weight be measured (site, certified scale, receiver)?
- Which measurement governs payment and reporting?
- How will differences be reconciled and reported?
Questions about rejected loads
- What happens if a load is rejected?
- Who pays for return, re-preparation or redirection?
- How will it be recorded in the closeout package?
Questions about records
- Which documents will be in the closeout package?
- Will the receiver provide a processing confirmation, or only a receipt?
- What exactly will any certificate state?
Questions about change pricing
- How are changes in quantity priced?
- How are specification changes priced?
- What are the standby and weather delay terms?

Red flags
- A recycling claim with no named receiver
- A certificate offered before the receiver's terms are known
- "We accept all blades" without a specification
- A per-blade price with no stated exclusions
