During a repower, retired blades come down on the lowering contractor's schedule, not the recycler's. Without a plan, they accumulate in laydown areas that the new turbine components also need. Blade management during repowering is about matching removal capacity to that schedule.
Key interfaces
| --- | --- |
|---|---|
| Turbine lowering | Daily or weekly blade count, where blades are set down, who owns them on the ground |
| Laydown and staging | Available area, ground conditions, how long blades may remain |
| Crane and rigging | Whether blades are cut on the ground or moved first, exclusion zones |
| New component delivery | Shared roads and pads, priority rules |
Planning sequence
- Obtain the lowering schedule and expected blade count per week
- Confirm laydown capacity and maximum dwell time for retired blades
- Agree the cutting specification with transport and receiver
- Size field and trucking capacity to clear blades at the rate they come down
- Define weather and schedule contingencies, including what happens if the receiver pauses intake
- Set the documentation package required at closeout
What this service is not
Repowering blade management does not include turbine lowering, crane work, nacelle or hub handling, tower or foundation work, or civil restoration unless those scopes are separately confirmed. It also does not include tax, incentive or legal advice.
What affects the quote
Rate of blade removal required, staging distance, number of mobilizations, cutting specification, haul distance, receiver capacity and the reporting package.
Deliverables
A blade flow plan tied to the lowering schedule, staging rules, a dispatch schedule, movement and weight records, and a closeout reconciliation.
Frequently asked questions
Do you offer full turbine decommissioning?
Full turbine decommissioning and blade material management are different scopes. A proposal will identify the work we perform, the work coordinated through approved providers and the responsibilities retained by others.
Can you advise on tax credits for repowering?
No. We do not provide legal or tax guidance or claim that any project qualifies for incentives. Consult qualified advisers.
